Just before 4:30 pm on Saturday 1/7/2016, RIT/Rescue 20 were dispatched to the 100-blk of Lewis Ave., in East Lansdowne Borough, for a house fire. As units went responding, Fireboard advised that police were on location reporting a working fire. A/C 24-9B (Castellano) arrived and assumed command, reporting heavy smoke from a 2 1/2 story twin dwelling with fire on the second floor. Rescue 20 (Capt. Rapp) arrived and 24-9B immediately requested their manpower to assist the first-in companies. RIT 56 (Manoa) was then dispatched to replace RIT 20. Two members from The Rescue then went to the roof for ventilation while three members forced entry through the rear door of the exposure dwelling. In the exposure, the crew found heavy smoke throughout and began searches and ventilation. First-in crews made quick work of the bedroom fire, allowing only minimal extension to the attic above. Rescue 20 remained on scene for just over an hour, assisting with ventilation and overhaul, before returning to Drexel Hill.
