On July 18th, several members spent the evening drilling on conducting searches inside a structure, as well as how to deal with entanglement issues. The crews used “black-out” masks to simulate real-life conditions of zero visibility and completed their search by finding their way through an entanglement box, recently built by Company 20 Lieutenant Fran Paolone, which provides a variety of training scenarios. It was a high-stress exercise for the firefighters, but it was also a great lesson in team work, self-extrication, and survival.
