On Tuesday June 29 at about 1145 AM 20-2 radioed Delco Fire Board that they were at Bishop Avenue and Penn Ln. in Springfield and on fire. The engine was on the way to the repair shop to have an electrical problem checked out. The crew at the Station heard 20-2s call and quickly responded on 20-1. Fire Board dispatched Company 44 Springfield who quickly responded with Tac 44. Engine 20-1 arrived in moments as the call was just outside our first due and managed to extinguish a small fire under the truck. Tac 44 arrived and assisted crews from 20-1 and 20-2 in securing the power to the truck and making sure the fire was fully extinguished. A tow truck from Triangle Towing in Tinicum was called to tow 20-2 to the shop for repairs. At this time the extent of the damage to 20-2 is unknown as is how long it will be out of service. Thanks to the crew from 44 for their quick response and assistance. Thanks also go out to Triangle Towing especially John the tow truck operator for his care in hooking up 20-2 so as not to cause any more damage.
