At 8:44 am, Company 20 was dispatched to the Aronimink SEPTA Station at Burmont Rd and Morgan Ave, to assist Medic 103-7 (DCMH) with manpower at a car accident. Upon arrival of Engine 20-2 (D/C M. Morgan), medics advised they would need assistance lifting the male driver out of the vehicle, once he was stabilized. D/C Morgan evaluated the situation, which involved limited working room due to heavy damage to the vehicle and it resting against a pole, and determined a roof removal would be needed to safely extricate the patient. D/C Morgan then ordered the rescue assignment, and Rescues 20 and 26 (Highland Park) were then dispatched for the accident with entrapment. The crew of 20-2 began initial stabilization and hazard control, as well as stretched a precautionary hose line. Rescue 20 (A/C B. Tully) then arrived and completed stabilization, before going in service with the Hurst JAWS tools to remove the roof of the vehicle. Rescue 26 arrived a few minutes later and assisted Rescue 20’s crew. The patient was packaged up and extricated in under 10 minutes. Crews then cleaned up fluids and debris on the highway, prior to going available. The Volunteers were off radio around 9:30 am.
