Wednesday, December 23, 2009 - Just after 5 pm, Wednesday night, Companies 44 (Springfield), 03 (Clifton Heights), 74 (Primos-Secane), RIT 20, and Medic 106 (Springfield Hosp. EMS), were dispatched to 91 Lownes Lane in Springfield for the house fire. Initial reports indicated a fire in the laundry room of the residence. Chief 44-9 (Woolson) arrived first to find a 2 story SFD with heavy smoke showing and a working fire on the first floor. Engine 44-1 dropped a supply line on the way in and stretched an 1 3/4" attack line to extinguish the fire. Engine 74-2 arrived and supplied 44-1. All other units continued in to assist with searches, ventilation, and checking for extension. No extension was found and the fire was placed under control in about 20 minutes. RIT/Rescue 20, under the command of Captain 20-12A (Mignogna), stood-by on scene for approximately one hour before returning.
