Saturday, January 19, 2013 15:18 - At 3:18 pm Saturday afternoon, Company 20 was dispatched to the rear of the Delco Learning Center day care, 350 Childs Ave., for a brush fire. Upon arrival of Engine 20-2 (D/C M. Morgan), smoke and flames were visible from the area of Creek Rd, but access was limited due to a steep, heavily wooded hill. The crew trekked through the woods and located the large fire. D/C Morgan then requested Engine 20-1 to respond to Creek Road to assist. Engine 20-1 responded and crews from both Engines stretched several booster lines and 1 3/4" hand lines for extinguishment. Company 20 was on the scene for over an hour before going available. While on their way back to the station, the Volunteers were alerted with Company 26 (Highland Park) for a fire alarm activation in "B" building of Alexander Arms Apts., 4800 W. Township Line Rd. Engines 20-1 and 20-2 responded, followed closely by Ladder 20. The alarm was found to be tripped by workers soldering and the assignment was quickly recalled.
