Thursday, January 14, 2010 - Around 7 am, Thursday morning, Companies 37 (Upper Darby) and 36 (Cardington-Stonehurst), Engine 26 (Highland Park), RIT 74 (Primos-Secane), and Medic 103-7B (DCMH Paramedics) were dispatched to 300 Kingston Rd. for a building fire. Moments later, Upper Darby Police arrived to find a two story, end of the row dwelling, with the first floor fully involved. Engine 37-1 arrived first, reporting heavy fire showing from the first floor, and they hooked up to the hydrant across the street from the fire dwelling and stretched two 1 3/4" attack lines. Due to the fire load and limited manpower, UD-11 (D/C McAfee), immediately placed Tower 74 in service and requested RIT 20 to replace them. Rescue 20 was out the door in moments, under the command of D/C 20-9A (M. Morgan). Upon arrival, the RIT crew sized up the dwelling, threw ground ladders, and set up fans for ventilation. The fire was knocked down in several minutes with no extension. Crews then went to work for extensive salvage and overhaul. The RIT crew stood-by for about 30 minutes before being released. The Rescue was back in the house around 8 am.
