Tuesday, January 12, 2010 - Around 6:25 pm, Tuesday night, Company 44 (Springfield), RIT 20, and Medic 106 (Springfield Hospital EMS), were dispatched to the 300 block of Harwicke Rd. for the house fire. As Rescue 20 was responding, under the command of D/C 20-9A (M. Morgan), A/C 44-9B arrived to find heavy smoke showing from a two story split-level home. Engine 44-1 arrived and stretched an 1 3/4" attack line into the residence and encountered heavy fire in the kitchen. The crew of 44-1 made quick work of the fire while additional units arrived and began assisting in ventilation and overhaul. The RIT crew performed a size-up of the dwelling and stood-by for about 40 minutes before returning. Rescue 20 was back in Drexel Hill shortly after 7 pm.
