On Thursday February 18th, around 6:15 pm, Company 20 was special called to this house fire on the Unit-blk of Overhill Rd. on the east end of Upper Darby. First-in crews had heavy fire on the 2nd floor of a twin home with people trapped and made a rescue of an occupant out a 3rd floor window. As crews began attacking the fire, it extended into the attic and then along the roof line into the exposure home. Units then began fighting heavy fire through the roof of both dwellings. Engines 20-1 and 20-2 along with Ladder 20, RIT/Rescue 20, and Traffic 20 responded with 31 members, who immediately went in service upon arrival by stretching several handlines for a defensive attack. Engine 20-2 handled the water supply to the scene. The stubborn blaze was finally knocked down and placed under control around the 3 hour mark. Company 20 was released around 9:30 pm and back in service by 10:00 pm. Thank you to Engine 09 (Sharon Hill) and Tower 44 (Springfield) for covering Station 20.
