On Saturday, November 14th, around 3:40 pm, Companies 37 (Upper Darby), 26 (Highland Park), Ladder 36 (Cardington-Stonehurst), Ladder and RIT-20, and Medic 103-7 (DCMH) were dispatched to 32 Victory Ave. for a house fire. Upon arrival of Engine 37-1, they reported heavy smoke and fire showing from the rear of a 2 story end row home. As 37-1 went in service with a handline and Engine 26-1 established a supply line, Command immediately struck the 2nd alarm due to the fire possibly having already extended into 2 additional homes. The balance of Companies 36 and 20, along with Companies 74 (Primos-Secane), 34 (Llanerch), and 58 (Bon Air) were then dispatched on the 2nd Alarm. Ladder 20 (Capt. Stevenson) arrived 4th in and the crew went straight to the roof to begin opening up. RIT/Rescue 20 (D/C M. Morgan) was put in service on arrival to assist interior crews with the heavy smoke and fire conditions, so Command then requested RIT-19 (Lansdowne) to replace RIT 20. Engines 20-1 & 20-3 responded on the 2nd Alarm and were put to work on arrival as all hands were used to bring the fast moving fire under control. Crews did a great job of limiting extension to only one additional home with just minor smoke damage to the third home. Two firefighters suffered minor injuries. The job was placed under control around 4:30 pm and Company 20 was released shortly after 5:30 pm. Also on scene were Traffic 20 and the 8th Dist. Fire Police. This fire is considered suspicious and under investigation.
